Bite, Snack, Meal Modals

METLIFE

THE CHALLENGE

Show benefits that customers are eligible for, and give them a path to get more details without directing them away from their own benefits page.

Like a lot of other mature businesses, Metlife has vast amounts of web content. For MetLife customers though, while they’re logged in and navigating through their benefits account, all that content exists somewhere else.

THE SOLUTION

For this small piece of MetLife’s voluntary benefits homepage redesign, we wanted to be able to introduce products and services that customers could benefit from, like pet insurance, without directing a customer away from their logged in experience.

Bite, Snack, Meal

We know we have to be thoughtful in which products we recommend to customers. At the same time, making calls to multiple databases would significantly slow page rendering.

Show (a bite of content for) offerings and on click, determine if the customer subscribes. If they do, reinforce the product value and provide a path for the customer to manage or use it.

If the customer doesn’t subscribe, leverage the CMS to pull a small amount of content (snack) from the marketing page into a modal, and let the customer decide if they want to leave their task to learn more (meal) or close the modal.

This simple and repeatable solution is being developed and is a small part of my MetLife work.
